Author Interview: Heather Terrell
I’d like to thank Heather Terrell for taking the time to answer my questions.
Heather: Before I begin with our author interview, I want to thank you so much for your interest in Fallen Angel!! I really hope that you enjoy the book, which tells the tale of two otherworldly teens whose search for their true identities ignites an ancient battle between good and evil. I welcome any questions or comments that you might have, so please e-mail me, or visit me on www.heatherterrell.com, or Friend me on Facebook.
1. I read that you were a lawyer for over ten years, when did you first think about becoming a writer?
I always harbored fantasies about a job outside the law, where I could unpuzzle long-standing historical mysteries. But, I had assumed that such work would require me to become an archaeologist or a historian of some sort. I never truly considered becoming a writer – even though I’d always been an avid reader – until a dear friend and fellow lawyer asked me an intriguing question. She inquired as to whether there would ever be a client I would refuse to represent on moral grounds, even though the client had a solid legal basis for his or her position. The question got me thinking, and I came up with an idea for a book in which a young lawyer was asked to represent an art auction house in its efforts to keep a painting from the family of a Holocaust victim, who had the painting taken by the Nazis. That idea became my first book The Chrysalis, and since then, I’ve used fiction writing as my vehicle for solving historical mysteries.
2. What are your most and least favorite things about your job as a writer?
I absolutely adore slipping away into another time and world, and delving into those historical mysteries that so intrigue me. Sometimes, I find it hard to do that on a deadline, because I want to linger in those worlds!
3. How many books do you plan on having in the Fallen Angel series?
Right now, the Fallen Angel series is designed as a two-book series, with a sequel entitled Eternity that will be released in the summer of 2011 That said, if readers enjoy the series, I have story treatments that could expand it to a three-book series with a prequel, and I left a door open in Eternity to do just that. I hope I have the chance to do so!!
4. What are you currently working on?
Currently, I am finishing up Eternity. It explores what happens when Ellie comes to grips with her destiny and learns that whoever holds the key to her heart also holds the key to mankind’s salvation – or destruction.
5. What are you currently reading?
I always have a few books going at a time, at least one upstairs, one downstairs and usually one in the car. Right now, I am re-reading A.S. Byatt’s Possesssion, and I am also digging into the final book in Suzanne Collins’ The Hunger Games series as well as re-reading C.S. Lewis’ The Chronicles of Narnia.
Thank you Heather for "stopping" by. Don't forget to go by the other stops on the Fallen Angel Tour (click the banner below to see the others stops)!
